I currently have a Ryzen 5 1600 and was looking into setting up VGA passthrough for a few games after getting a second (cheaper) GPU – however I do plan on playing most of my games in Linux.
I was able to find this guide for switching without an X-restart using an integrated card and an AMD card: http://ift.tt/2AnZyp3
Is is possible to setup something like that with Looking Glass so that I can use the hot card for gaming on both Windows and Linux? Alternatively, if something like Bumblebee exists where I am able to set specific programs to use a specific card, I’d be into that as well. I just hate dual booting so much and having to restart for specific games is what I’d like to avoid – I really only have a few games that I play on Windows anymore but I’d really like to avoid the hassle of rebooting to play them especially since they tend to be spur of the moment style.
Current setup is a Ryzen 5 1600 and GTX 1060. I’d be getting just a basic card that can support 4k 60hz for the desktop while windows is running.
If that isn’t going to work, I might as well get one of the new APUs coming up…
